100 Women Visit The Nest
The Nest hosted 100 Women early in March 2020 as a thank you and appreciation of our support. Members learned about their early childhood education programs, services they provide to the public, and historical information about the property. Penny Warren, a member and Executive Committee member, reflects on the evening:
Wow! What an evening at The Nest. We heard about their outstanding early childhood education program, but had no idea that their program has a 5-star rating or about the multitude of other programs they offer the community, all free of charge to qualified recipients.
For example, they offer parent education and support (https://thenestlexington.org/parenting/), including parenting classes for men and women and offer support groups. The Nest provides domestic violence counseling and advocacy (https://thenestlexington.org/domesticviolence/), including survivor assessments, court advocacy, individual counseling and support groups for domestic violence victims. The Nest also provides crisis care support (https://thenestlexington.org/crisismanagement/), such as children’s clothing, toiletries, and baby equipment. They are closely connected with other agencies and provide referrals for Legal Aid, Food Bank, eye exams, employment opportunities, etc. Many of their programs are offered in English and in Spanish.
We are so proud to have provided financial support to The Nest over the past six years and plan to continue our relationship long into the future. Please visit their web site, https://www.facebook.com/pg/TheNestLexington/about, and consider offering to volunteer or to provide the supplies they need so badly.
